Happy Hermit Bakery is an award-winning gluten-free cottage bakery on the Mendocino Coast owned and operated by Ona Rynearson who has a passion for creating delicious, beautiful, and creative baked goods that anyone can enjoy. Happy Hermit is always gluten-free, is mostly nut free, and also offers vegan and cane-sugar free options too.
Ona grew up on the Mendocino Coast and returned to be closer to family in 2020. Ona has been baking since childhood. Ona has celiac disease and other food related allergies so understands how isolating food restrictions can be, but thinks food is meant to be a shared community experience. All of Ona's food is tested on "gluten eaters" to get their buy-in. Ona's favorite thing is hearing that the entire family enjoys her baking, not just the person who requires the gluten free items.
Ona specializes in unique and creative flavors, while also delighting in recreating classics. Chocolate Chip Orange Zest Cookies, Focaccia Bread, Carrot Cake, Cranberry Biscotti, Buckwheat Bread are just few fan favorites!
